Update: Sotheby’s announced the Supreme Skateboard deck collection sold for $800,000.
Sotheby’s is auctioning the first complete collection of Supreme skateboard decks since their first release in 1998. The collection was put together over a decade by Californian skater, collector and art enthusiast, Ryan Fuller. Gathering the 248 decks not only took him years but also led Fuller to connect with collectors around the globe from countries such as Japan, Australia, South Africa or the United Kingdom.
To this day there is no other complete collection that exists according to Fuller. Aside from the fact that some boards were hard to find, you can easily imagine that some decks he encountered were worn out by skaters riding them.
The collection features collaborations with artists such as Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami, Kaws, Damien Hirst, Richard Prince to name a few. There is also a Louis Vuitton Boite Skateboard Trunk which includes a LV Supreme trunk, deck, trucks, wheels and an accessory kit.
The estimated price value of the entire Supreme Skateboard deck collection is estimated around $800,000 to $1,200,000. Who would have thought the skateboard culture would enter into the world of a prestigious auction house such as Sotheby’s . You can place a bid on their website here.
Did you know: In 2000 a ‘cease-and-desist’ lawsuit from French luxury house Louis Vuitton demanded all the LV inspired monogramed Supreme decks to be recalled and destroyed.
