Royal Enfield’s rich military heritage is being celebrated in Honour of the paratroopers that served the British Army and the “Flying Flea” motorbikes they used during battle, with the release of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition. This special edition takes inspiration from the RE/WD 125cc motorcycle that was used extensively by the paratroopers during WWII. It was referred as the “Flying Flea” due to its lightweight (59 kilograms), allowing it to be air-dropped from military aircrafts straight into the battlefields. These bikes assisted the men with reconnaissance, communications, carrying soldiers into battle at a faster pace and reach difficult terrains where perhaps heavier vehicles wouldn’t.
The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus will be a very limited Edition. With only 1000 bikes to be produced worldwide of which 250 are destined to the Indian market. This period styled 500cc motorbike with military details will be available in 2 colours, Service Brown and Olive Drab Green. The bike will come with WWII inspired canvas bags, the Pegasus Regiment insignia, a unique serial number stenciled on the fuel tank, brown handle grips, leather strap with a brass buckle across the air filter, blacked out silencers, rims, kickstart lever, pedals and headlight bezel. This is not the first time Royal Enfield has released limited editions which met high customer demand. More info
