From Sydney to Paris, I currently see a lot of people using hoverboards, longboards with engines and other fancy types of rides. Tech is cool but let’s go back to the basics. When have we become so lazy that we needed an engine on our skateboards? Rollholz skateboards is a German brand made by Tom Wilhelm who sells his handcrafted boards over on Etsy. No engine or any fancy piece of tech is required. Here we come back to the basics of the old school skateboards. A piece of wood with trucks and wheels. You will admire the veins of the light Ash or dark American walnut wood, depending on the type of wood you choose. A touch of colour can also be added onto the tail with a nice diagonal design. The shape of the board is simple and beautifully handcrafted. It’s a pleasure to see, when most things are massed produced by automated machines. This cruiser will not only be a joy to ride but also a piece of work you will certainly cherish for a long time. A cool marbled paint version is also available. Price: $132
TRD: My dog Pablo, approves as he loves running behind me when I ride my board.
Did you know: A skateboard deck is made from seven pieces of plywood maple
