The Nike Daybreak was originally released in 1979. This retro running sneaker has been re-released by Nike in a variety of colorways and styles. Featuring the same rubber Waffle outsole and nylon upper with a true vintage style.
Updated versions are also on offer with modern touches on the Nike Daybreak SP and Nike Daybreak Type while retaining a vintage feel. Updates on the Daybreak SP opt for a transparent TPU across the uppers in place of the usual nylon. The Swoosh is switched, too, with a printed iteration gracing the sidewalls and nestling nicely amongst those supportive suede overlays.
A ‘70s style reimagined, Nike’s Daybreak-Type is a fresh take on Bowerman’s early prototype. Pulled from the archives, the sneaker’s deconstructed style pays homage to the fabric-covered tables and weathered sketchbooks of designers. Made from airy mesh and layered with retro suede, it’s exaggerated stitching adds an artistic touch, while the signature Waffle sole provides traction and heritage in equal measures.
If you like the old school looks these are the pair to go for. Paired with chinos or jeans these sneakers will fit just about anything attire giving it a special touch.
Did you know: Early Nike early prototypes were made of kangaroo leather, velvet, deer hide, and fish skin by Bowerman who used student-athlete Phil Knight to test them.
