When a Luxury car maker steps into the realm of the yachting world you can only expect the outcome to be very interesting. The Lexus Sport Yacht is a concept which saw its development and birth when Mr Akio Toyoda (Toyota’s President) had been testing out a new range of Ponam’s, Toyota’s premium yachts. The project was then given to the Lexus Design Centre allowing the company to push and explore Lexus style outside boundaries of the automotive industry. The result is none less than stunning presenting a very modern luxury sport yacht built by Marquis Carver in Wisconsin. Its unique CPRF construction is close to 1000 kgs lighter compared to reinforced fiberglass plastic (FRP). The yacht can seat up to 8 passengers comfortably. There is a central colour touchscreen that lets the pilot control all the on board systems (GPS navigation, digital charts, surface radar, underwater sonar, lighting and entertainment systems). The finishes are luxurious with glass, wood and leather detailing throughout. The Lexus Sport Yacht is powerful with twin 5 litre V8 petrol engines that will speeds up to 43 knots. Only a one-off bespoke concept as of today, this projects demonstrates what Lexus is capable of if it were to enter the yachting world.
Did you know: The branding company Lippingcott & Margulies found the name “Alexis” the most preferred out of 219 for a car company. But its similarity being too close to “Alexis Carrington” in the TV series Dynasty it was changed to “Lexus”
