The Defender is said to be have been designed in the sand in 1947 at Wharf Bay by Rover engineering Director Maurice Wilks as a simple utilitarian agricultural vehicle. The Land Rover Defender ceased production for not meeting today’s new regulations, such as gas emissions or crash test requirements. The simple lines of the vehicle is what made it favoured by many from the country farmer to her Majesty the Queen. Not to mention it appears in numerous action movies such as “Skyfall” with Daniel Craig giving it the bad boy look vehicle the secret agents can handle as well as the villains in all terrain pursuit. It is a versatile car that not only looks good in the city but is also perfect for a weekend surf trip with room for your boards and gear. A new model is said to be in preparation for 2018 but how much of its authenticity will it keep?
TRD: Hope the new models won’t look like a Jeep Compass.
Did you know: Previous famous owners of the Land Rover Defender include the Queen, Sir Winston Churchill and Steve McQueen.
