Grow restaurant in Seminyak, Bali has recently opened its doors bringing a novel and stimulating culinary experience to the island. The concept of Grow is to serve fresh and sustainable produce with an all-day dining menu and bespoke cocktails. Heading up the kitchen is none other than celebrity Chef Ryan Clift, internationally renowned chef from the Tipping Club and the Open Farm community in Singapore. His presence itself is enough to get diners excited, and so it should. Ryan Clift’s goal is to bring sustainable food to your table, ensuring that the meat and seafood are all 100% locally sourced and all the vegetables are locally sourced from a farm in the highlands of Kintamani. Even the pasta is handmade with local semolina. Can it get any fresher than this?
I had the pleasure to dine at Grow with some friends during a recent stay. The night began with some drinks at the outdoor bar where the space feels very cosy, with wood detailing from floor to ceiling, pleasant dim lights, bottles hanging over the bar on hooks and pots of plants hanging on the wall as decor. After some wine and cocktails you are then led to the restaurant which is located inside just under the L Hotel. The decor there is modern with natural elements with plants and touches of wood. An outside glassed garden wraps around the restaurant, which further emphasizes the natural side of the concept and is ideal for this tropical setting.
When it comes to the menu selection itself, you will want to sample everything making it extremely tough to choose just one dish. We decided to leave the decision to French Manager Melanie who carefully and thoughtfully picked a tasting variety, paying special attention to everyone’s food preferences and requirements. Upon being served you will be impressed by the presentation which is visually very pleasing and mouth watering, you almost don’t want to dig in and disrupt these colorful composed dishes.
Overall this was a great drinking and dining experience which successfully blends the natural outdoor elements in an open and modern space which maximises the refreshing surrounding beauty.
