Sydney is surrounded by water and if you happen to be visiting from overseas or overstate you will surely be wondering where to go for food to enjoy the seaside views. During the Easter break I had the pleasure to spend a long weekend in the northern beaches of Sydney. If you’re lucky enough to have nice weather surrounded by beautiful beaches, why not also satisfy your appetite by the water. The Boathouse cafe in Palm Beach is set right on the water overlooking the Pittwater river. The decor is shabby chic with a real beach feel that makes you feel like you’re on vacation as soon as you step inside. There are multiple options for eating and getting you coffee fix as it can get quite packed. The Boathouse Palm Beach is very popular among locals and Sydneysiders escaping the city for the weekend and it’s easy to see why. If you can, try to get a spot outside on the large wooden deck overlooking the water where you’ll feel like you’re floating away the afternoon. The menu is simple and appetizing, very fresh and organic and tasty. You can see the orders coming out of the kitchen with beautiful, colourful compositions. Here is a little sample to get you a little peckish:- bowls of bircher piled high with peaches, passionfruit and yoghurt; a saucy bacon and egg roll; and avocado on toast layered with heirloom tomatoes and bacon for breakfast. Lunch includes bowls of prawns, Beachouse Burgers and beer battered flathead with homemade tartar sauce…. And if Palm beach is a bit far don’t worry, The Boathouse have other venues which are just as stunning with that same beach vibe at Balmoral, Shelly Beach and Moby Dicks in Whale Beach.
TRD: After breakfast or lunch take time to digest and go for a hike to the lighthouse or a surf nearby, you won’t regret it.
