James Goldstein, owner of the legendary Sheat Goldstein House by John Lautner, announced he will gift it to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). His will is to give to the possibility to the public and architects to be inspired and admire Lautner’s architecture in the future. The house, which has been seen in many movies like the “Big Lebowski” and photo shoots, will be generously given with it’s contents such as his 1961 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud, his fashion collection, and paintings from artists like ED Ruscha.
Did you know: The Sheat Goldstein house was originally built on a tight budget with plaster and formica. There had been 2 owners prior to James Goldstein who purchased the house in 1972 in a state of disrepair. Goldstein and Lautner collaborated to make it perfect for a period of nearly 2 decades until the architect’s death in 1994.
