If you are looking for the perfect hideaway, set in awe-inspiring landscape, look no further than this award-winning house (Winner of the 2014 Urbis Award for Best House and Home of the Year finalist). A visit here is an ideal surprise you can plan for your partner. The house is located in Pigeon Bay, New Zealand, which is over an hour south from Christchurch. It is only accessible by helicopter or 4WD. It doesn’t get any more remote than this. James Bond would surely have it on his list. Designed by Andrew Patterson, the house was conceived as a romantic getaway that accommodates 2 people. This building, although modern, seamlessly blends within its environment elements, thanks to rock walls quarried from a nearby site and a concrete roof covered of turf camouflaging it from the hills above. It is composed of 3 irregularly shaped rooms with an entrance hall, an open-plan lounge and bedroom, and a bathroom. You have an open plan with split levels dividing the room and the living room overlooking the coast through a wall of glass. You can also get to enjoy the magnificent views while you’re bathing in your warm tub sipping champagne. The interiors are warm with a nice colour palette mixing elements such as wood, stone walls, concrete and animal hides. You may not actually want to step outside. Price: from U$1,800.
